SINGLE REVIEW:

ATL's own Tocarra Hamilton releases her debut single “Go.” In the Spring of 2010 Tocarra Hamilton is one of those female singers that’s been flying under our radar, but doing some impressive vocal work just the same. Over the years she’s collaborated with such acts as Yong Dro, Young LA, Promcess (w/Crime Mob), Lil’ Scrappy, Lil’ Phat, CYCHI Da Pryne, Rocko & 8-Ball just to name a few. But her biggest collaboration by far came when she was featured in Usher’s song “Daddy’s Home” which peaked at number 3 nationwide. Now with the release of this single “Go”, we now get up close & personal with Tocarra with the spotlight all her own.

Logging in at just (3:46) the single “Go” kicks things off with solitary vocal intro from Hamilton. The single grabs your attention & just refuses to let go. Enter soothing Hip Hop rhythms, impressive vocal accents with a few hip hop harmonies, the single takes flight. You will notice conservative keyboard accents, coupled with well placed sonic touches against a solid low end groove. This atmosphere sets the stage well for Hamilton’s vocal playground..Hamilton brings to the table all the honey coated vocal swagger & moxie you would expect, reminiscent of such classic singers as Rihanna, Alicia Keyes, & maybe a splash of Beyonce. I think it’s safe to say Hamilton’s voice hasn’t reached full maturity yet, but it is impressive nonetheless. The actual song refuses to try to hard, & never once ventures over the top. Zeroing in on her vocal performance: in the beginning she starts off with a conservative delivery, but as the song  builds she clearly takes some impressive vocal risks indicating a strong & confident vocal ability. From well placed falsettos, to a few perfectly placed vocal runs, Tocarra pretty much delivers! The versus leading up to the chorus build extremely well. The chorus itself is impressive enough not only with it's melody, but with it's passionate message. Lyrics go “This is for my girls, all around the world you know what I mean, sing along with me.” If I could only get away, cuz' it aint' supposed to be this way.”  “Maybe I could find a better guy.” “Go” by Tocarra is a world class groove. It clearly proves Tocarra is a force to be reckoned with. She clearly proves herself on this single as a premier talent within the industry. The bonus single “Party” shows us even more diversity with well placed vocal hooks, & accents coupled with booming low end groove making for a hot finale statement.  It definitely adds fuel to the fire, & reveals even more of Tocarra’s personality vocal persona.

Overall the single release “Go” is a world class musical production from start to finish. The 2 songs make for a hot 7 minutes of music. It’s strong suit - the production genius that sets the stage well for Tocarra's infectious vocal persona. Like the aforementioned, this conservative approach sets her up for success, & it's impact cannot be overstated. My hats off to the entire production team for this. The music is clean, & goes down smooth. The grooves are tight. The message hit their mark But back to Tocarra Hamilton - this release clearly proves she’s an artist worthy of spotlight, attention & praise. I look forward to hearing more work from Tocarra later on this Summer.
